DJ Biography:
Who is Mark Robinson? Established DJ, budding producer, or just some random wannabe. Music has always been a big part of Mark's life although he has been in the electronic scene for a relatively short time. A Canadian by birth, Mark spent much of his formative years following the North American alternative scene with ground breaking bands such as Jane's Addiction, the Chillies, and Rage against the Machine. The return to the UK in the mid-90's caused a major change to his musical interest. Clubbing in the Midlands was exploding with new nights and clubs opening, emulating the excitement and creativity already found in London. It was this new sound that gripped him.
Starting as a clubber, it was not long before Mark's interest in music took him to the other side of the Ones and Twos. Initially playing at the highly respected after-hours club, Nocturnal, Mark's development into DJing had begun. From there a move into the main room of the Escape Club in Leicester beckoned, and it was here that he developed his distinctive blend of dark tribal progressive beats and uplifting trance.
Playing there regularly for the next 3 years really forged his skills behind the decks and soon attracted interest among other promoters. He has since played in numerous venues across the country including Club Sessions, Fever and Friskys in Northampton and the Engineer, Passions Pre-Bar. This has brought him into contact with some highly respected DJs in the industry including Hernon Cattaneo, Eric Prydz, the Audio Bullys, Andy Bagguley and the MYNC Project. 2007 has been a good year for Mark. With recent sets at Turnmills and Hidden, through the help and support of the Subbase Crew, his credentials as a crowd winning DJ will surely increase.
