Ian Betts DJ Biography:
Ian Betts is one of those rare DJs who can justifiably claim to be a true legend of the scene. He is currently London's undisputed No.1 trance DJ and
Producer, and with an exclusive residency at HeatUK alongside an increasing number of high profile guest slots at such influential promotions as 'Cream'
in Ibiza, London's 'The Gallery' and Most Wanted's 'Twisted' night, Ian is now enjoying the rewards of over six years of consistently hard work.
Ian has played at every single major trance and hard dance event in the capital, gaining a loyal and dedicated following of fans in the process. His
production sound has been championed by the biggest DJs in the world, from Armin Van Buuren and Matt Darey to Dave Pearce and Graham Gold. Ian's
reputation is not just a London phenomena however, his fanbase is truly international as sell out gigs and sell out releases in places as far afield
as Australia, Thailand, Slovenia, Holland, South Africa and Spain will testify.
Ian has risen to the top due to his unique blend of memorable high-octane sets, soaringly euphoric productions and a highly-charged presence behind
the decks. As a DJ he is the master of crowd control with an uncompromising approach to entertaining the dancefloor. As a producer he stamps his
instantly recognisable sound on everything he touches and his tracks are amongst some of the most celebrated anthems in clubland.
Ian's incredible passion for his music and DJing has won him an army of admirers across the globe, and he rightly finds himself lining up amongst clubland's heavyweights!
It all started for Ian when he was inspired by the DJs at London's legendary Friday night at Turnmills 'The Gallery' and in particular their residents
Steve Lee and Tall Paul. Unable to afford decks because he was spending all his money on buying the tunes he loved, Ian learnt to mix on two hi-fi
turntables with no more ambition that to make mixtapes for his mates. Given plenty of encouragement he got his first gig at a small party which was held
in the basement of a Mexican restaurant in Old Street and within a few short months he found himself playing regularly for promotions at some of the
biggest venues in London. It was this jump to prominence that not only spurred Ian on into buying a proper set of decks but also into setting
himself up with a studio at home where he locked himself away to learn the secrets of production.
Ian now has a huge and dedicated following, not just in his hometown of London, but also across the UK and abroad – he currently holds an exclusive
residency at "HeatUK" where he has built a rapport with the crowd that has been the envy of many a guest. His sets reflect a rare versatility - Ian is
capable of crafting a journey from the progressive influenced melodic pumping sounds at the start of the night through the uplifting euphoric
anthems to the harder edged beats at the end of the set whilst seamlessly incorporating his own tracks and reworks, and yet he is not afraid to throw
in the odd classic into the mix whilst still breaking new material.
Ian has had the pleasure of playing high profile sets in clubland's most celebrated venues for the most influential promotions alongside the biggest
DJs & producers in the world. He has also played at prestigious venues abroad including trips to Israel, Slovenia and Ibiza as well as a tour of
Australia, which saw him play gigs at venues across the country. He has most recently returned from playing the opening night party of Cream's Ibizan
residency @ Amnesia, where he made such an impact on crowd and promoters alike that he was immediately asked back to play next year!
In addition to gigging Ian has also created a name for himself as a genuine production talent. His first foray into the studio, a remake of the
progressive classic "Fixation", was championed by Graham Gold on Kiss FM and Armin Van Buuren on his A State Of Trance show. He has just finished
remixing the trance classic “Liberation” for Matt Darey’s new label and his latest release "Love Resurrection" has just come out on Masif Records to
massive acclaim having been given "anthem" status by Dave Pearce on his Radio 1 Dance Anthems show. With further releases and remixes due on
Elevation Records, Audiojelly, Six Thirty Records, Heat Vinyl, and BC Traxx, and continued support & radioplay from the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Dave
Pearce, Graham Gold, Guy Ornadel, Scott Bond, Danny Slade, Tom Harding, Mark Sherry, Adam White, Gavyn Mytchell, Andy Bagguley, Simon Patterson, Tidy
Boys, Rob Tissera and Steve Hill, Ian's unique and recognisable production sound is primed to explode all over clubland.
Ian is currently one of the most in demand trance DJs and producers, with 2004 having seen him play for Ministry of Sound’s ‘Euphoria’ brand, the
Cream opening party @ Amnesia in Ibiza, the 10,000 people ‘South West Four’ event on Clapham Common, an exclusive showcase 3 hour set at the Brixton
Fridge for the Most Wanted agency, a guest on Galaxy FM's "Nu-Breed" radio show, and the Gallery's NYE party at Brixton Academy where Ian played the
peaktime set to a sell out 4,000 crowd .
2005 is already looking as though it will raise Ian's profile further still, with high profile tours to Australia/New Zealand and South Africa in
April/May, gigs in Slovenia, Chile, Thailand and Holland, a return to Cream at Amnesia in Ibiza, as well as a packed schedule of releases and studio
time/remix work for some of the biggest producers and labels in the world!
